This Year's Model Updates:

The base trim level has been dropped. The 2.7-liter V6 is now standard (the LX still gets the 3.5-liter V6), as is an automatic transmission. Also newly standard this year are four-wheel antilock brakes and traction control. Exterior changes include a new grille surround, side cladding, taillamps, tailgate handle, rear bumper design and alloy wheels. Inside, there is new seat fabric, an upgraded two-tone color scheme and a revised instrument cluster. A power driver seat is now standard on the LX, and a compass is included with the optional sunroof.

Pros:
  • Reasonable price, strong warranty, roomy interior, long list of standard features, solid construction, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the pump for a small car-based SUV, soft suspension limits handling ability.

  • Best car I have owned to date - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I traded in a Ford Escape with 30000 miles on it for the 2004 Santa Fe. I got tired of Fords expensive service practices and terrible warranty...and the great warranty on the Hyundai sure beats Fords...

All people that want to get a great SUV and dont care about brand of care... this is the car for you. When I drive this car, I feel very comfortable. Because that car has stability control you can take a 50 degree turn at 40 mph.

I just traded in the Elantra for the Santa Fe and I love it. Great in bad weather.

Only one problem with this vehicle - the fuel mileage is really bad compared with the advertised mileage. Im getting worse mileage than my wife, who drives a much heavier, much larger engined car. My mileage is about 35% worse than the advertised mileage. Otherwise, its great fun to drive, lots of room in the back for my 90 lb. dog, and very comfortable to drive and ride in.

  • Great Buy! - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

This is a great vehicle. Rides very smooth and handles like a car. My wife and I traded in her Tiburon so we got the loyalty discount plus some other discounts. The people at the dealership were great and made buying the car a no hassle deal. The gas milage is decent I guess considering it is a V6 and an SUV, but I have been used to a 4 cylinder engine and a small car.

I traded my Mercedes ML in for the Santa Fe with no regrets. I cant go wrong with the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I wish that I didnt get the 2.7L. But is still worth every penny. Everyone loves it!

  • Great mid-size SUV to own - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

The fact that the vehicle has plenty of room, good stereo system, sun roof and window are a plus. Good turning radius! Plenty of cargo room if back seats are dropped down. The VERY BEST WARRANTY I have seen. Universal Nissan staff are quick to respond and go out of their way to be of service. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Great vehicle to drive. Surpasses my 2002 Honda CRV EX that I had. Car is well put together. Engine is so smooth.
